Sustainability is the capacity to endure. We have a responsibility to be good stewards of our communities and the environment. Each action has an impact that can lead to consequences; good or bad.

After three years of searching, we are launching our new fibre egg cartons in the Northwest Territories. It has been quite a journey for all of us and we have spent so much energy and time to find and bring fibre cartons to the north and move away from are original Styrofoam cartons and we are proud to say that day has come.

With fibre cartons high in demand in an eco-aware marketplace, it has been difficult finding a distributor willing to work with a small operation. After travelling to multiple international poultry expos and traveling over 30,000 km to find the fibre for Polar Egg, our Sales Manager, Kevin Wallington found Bill Swanson of Hartmann Cartons in Gig Harbor, Washington and together they made it possible. Since the debut of Polar Egg in December 2012, we have heard our customer’s desire to move away from Styrofoam and move into an eco-friendly packaging product and we have found our solution!

Our brand new fibre cartons were officially launched at the Yellowknife Farmers Market on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

Stores in Yellowknife, Hay River and Fort Smith received their first shipments of the Polar Egg branded fibre cartons throughout that week!

We heard back from our customers and the new cartons were well received, we are continuing to listen to our costumers and take suggestions on how we can be even more environmentally friendly!

We are continuing to work on our carton recycle program.  The really cool thing is that we are not restricting it to our cartons alone. We figure that if we can keep our cartons out of the landfill, then why don’t we help pull all the other egg cartons out as well. It doesn't matter if they are fibre, Styrofoam or plastic. We will have boxes set up at your local store and this will enable you to drop them off to be brought back to Hay River to be recycled and re-purposed. It is our way of showing that we care.

It is a small action, but we believe it could make a big difference.

Thank you to everyone who has waited patiently and supported us though this journey, we will continues to listen to you and want to ensure that we are providing the true northern quality product!

Let us know if you want to get in on the discussion about sustainability. You can contact us here or on our Facebook page. We will keep you posted on what we discover and when our recycling plan will be fully implemented.
